I bought a wonderful little oak desk I found locally on craigslist and when contacting the owner for purchase, found they only lived about 3 blocks from me!

Unlike advertising in the paper or posting on ebay, it’s FREE. Another advantage is if you have a huge item, shipping is almost impossible. Posting your item on your city’s page allows local people to pick the item up.
Some items have a fee and some items are completely FREE! Here is an example of a free piano I found in my cities listing.
“Free piano, you move, really needs a new home. Needs a little work and tuning.”
In this economy, being able to get rid of items and find things you could use for free could be very helpful. As it’s said, “One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure”.
Here’s the bad news. Unlike ebay where you can check the reputation of a seller, you need to be very cautious with those replying to an item you’re selling and from those advertising items or services. There are also some areas in craigslist meant for adults only and be wary about giving out personal information.
With caution, it can be a great site to find or sell things locally.
